Boredom can quickly take over during lockdown. You therefore need to find ways to keep busy and fill the days, which can sometimes seem endless! We have put together a short list of activities to try or discover during these periods of enforced free time.
1) Try meditation
Do your loved ones bend your ear every day about the benefits of this practice? Now is the perfect time to try it and discover what makes so many followers hooked on this rather calm and relaxing activity. In the digital age, there is no excuse not to give it a go. Take out your smartphone and download a free meditation app; dozens are available free of charge. Set aside a time slot each day and “Let’s chill!”
2) Exercise
That’s right, no one has an excuse not to get some exercise any more. We are no longer short of time; we now have plenty to spare! Hundreds of videos appear on social media every day, offering exercises to do at home. You do not even need any equipment or access to a gym. All you need is yourself and your motivation!
Look for ideas using mobile apps or videos available on YouTube, or go cycling or jogging (if permitted by law).
3) Try new recipes!
Yes, it is possible to cook something other than pasta twice a day. Get creative and surprise yourself as a chef. Who knows? You may have a gift and become the new Cyril Lygnac of 2020!
The tens of thousands of recipes available online will set your taste buds tingling. Step outside your comfort zone and learn new recipes. Why not choose a theme for each day? Monday is Indian, Tuesday is Japanese and Wednesday is Greek!
4) Read as much as you can
What could be better than a cosy throw and a fascinating book?
Take some time for yourself and relax by reading your favourite author. One thing is certain: no one will be able to interrupt your reading sessions.
5) Tidy your home
Yes, we know… No one can claim to have a perfectly tidy home.
Have you been putting off sorting out that cellar or attic because you lacked the time? You now have complete freedom as far as your schedule is concerned. Take your courage in both hands and embark on a thorough tidy-up of your home. You will be proud of yourself.
6) Learn a new language
Have you always dreamt of mastering a foreign language? English, Spanish or Italian? Everything is now within your reach. Online solutions are available to you. A language coach for next to nothing? It is possible. Set yourself goals and devote some time to it each day. Your progress will amaze your loved ones once you can show them your command of a new language! Do you need a goal to motivate yourself? Plan to book a holiday in a country where the language is spoken, and you will be able to put theory into practice!
7) Learn to play a musical instrument
Have you never found the time to learn the violin, guitar or any other musical instrument? Have you always dreamt of bringing parties to life with your guitar playing? Now is the time to fully commit to learning that instrument.
Arm yourself with plenty of patience and determination, and you will succeed!
8) Call your loved ones using Houseparty

It is THE must-have for passing the time by calling your loved ones. This app is extremely popular during lockdown. It is perfect for checking in with loved ones from whom you are separated. There is no longer any excuse not to keep in touch with those you love!
This app is available on smartphones and computers.
