What should you do in your garden in April?

After some unseasonably cool temperatures, the warmer days are just around the corner… at last, we can finally look forward to spring!
And with it comes our desire to enjoy the garden. In this article, discover all our tips on what to do in your garden in April.

The lawn: now is the time…
  • … to sow a new lawn if your garden needs one. If not, remember to remove weeds and strengthen your lawn with fertiliser. This will help fortify it, making it greener, denser and more resilient.
From now on, remember to mow the lawn two to three times a month
The garden: now is the time to…
  • … plant: perennials (lupins, daisies, etc.), summer shrubs (hydrangeas, hibiscus, etc.), summer bulbs (begonias, lilies, daylilies, etc.) and climbing plants (clematis, honeysuckle, passion flowers, etc.)
  • … prune: hydrangeas and spring-flowering shrubs (cut above a strong bud)
  • … remove weeds from flower beds and around flowers
  • … fertilise plants and rose bushes
The vegetable garden: now is the time to sow or transplant…
  • … root vegetables (carrots, radishes, beetroot, etc.)
  • … salad greens (lettuce, watercress, etc.)
  • … herbs (parsley, thyme, tarragon, chives)
Fruit trees: now is the time to…
  • … plant strawberry and raspberry plants
  • … water young fruit trees and remove any weeds growing around them

You now have everything you need to care for your garden, and we hope you thoroughly enjoy it!

On your marks, get set, garden!
